The History of ZooParc
A story that continues to be written
Born in the 1970s from a traveller’s passion, the ZooParc de Trégomeur has transformed over time into a park committed to conservation, education and the discovery of the living world. A look back at the key milestones that have shaped its history, from its origins to its new projects for tomorrow.
L'histoire commence...
The history of the ZooParc de Trégomeur began in the 1970s when Monsieur Arnoux, a passionate traveller, gradually transformed his campsite into a zoological park. Through his discoveries, he built up a remarkable collection of animals, particularly lemurs.
Un nouveau chapitre
In 2002, after several decades devoted to developing the park, Monsieur Arnoux retired. The Conseil Départemental des Côtes-d’Armor then acquired the site and embarked on an ambitious reflection to envision the park’s future.
Une nouvelle gestion
The following year, Monsieur Olivier de Lorgeril (also owner of the Domaine de la Bourbansais) was chosen to manage it and oversee its transformation.
L'ouverture du ZooParc
After several years of design and construction work, and an investment of 8.6 million euros, the ZooParc de Trégemeur opened its doors in 2007. From the very beginning, the choice was made to showcase the fauna and flora of Asia and Madagascar through immersive landscaped spaces, true invitations to travel.
Un tournant majeur
In 2023, Olivier de Lorgeril acquired the land of the ZooParc de Trégemeur, marking the transition from public management to a private structure and opening a new phase of development. This evolution allows the park to gain greater autonomy, accelerate its development projects, and further strengthen its commitment to animal welfare, conservation and visitor experience.
Un avenir engagé
Today, the ZooParc continues to evolve by strengthening its actions in favour of the conservation of endangered species, research and education on biodiversity. More than a zoological park, it is a place of discovery, wonder and awareness, where everyone can better understand the richness and fragility of the living world.
