Did you know?

The snow leopard is perfectly adapted to the cold conditions of its habitat. Its thick coat becomes even denser in winter and its small, round ears help retain heat. Thanks to its wide paws, similar to snowshoes, it can move silently across the snow without sinking in. Its spotted coat allows it to blend perfectly into the snowy mountains.

Threats and conservation

The snow leopard is threatened by poaching, habitat loss, declining prey populations and conflicts with local communities. Conservation efforts, led by organisations such as WWF and the Snow Leopard Trust, aim to reduce conflicts with humans, protect its habitat and combat poaching.
