Description
The Javan langur can have a black or orange coat, a phenomenon still unexplained by scientists. At birth, all baby Java langurs have an orange coat, which mayor may not change as they grow.
Threats and perservation
Javan langur populations are declining due to human actions (deforestation, poaching traffficking as pets. Led by the Aspinall Foundation in Indonesia, the main aim of the Java langur conservation programme is to strengthen populations by reintroducing individuals into protected forests.
