Description
The Victoria crowned pigeon is a very spectacular land pigeon, with a bluish color. It has a large, erectile hoopoe. It is the largest pigeon in the world.
Threats and preservation
The victoria crowned pigeon is threatened by hunting for its meat and prized feathers. Its natural habitat has shrunk considerably and it now survives only in remote areas of isolated forests. The victoria crowned pigeon is officially protected in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.
